SHA Message To All Kenyans

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has notified selected Level 4 healthcare facilities of changes to the dates for verification and surveillance of pending claims inherited from the former National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).

In a notice dated Monday, September 28, 2026, SHA said the dates contained in an earlier schedule had been revised. The exercise relates to pending claims valued at KSh10 million or more, following an earlier communication issued on September 18.

Affected healthcare facilities have been advised to consult the revised schedule to confirm their new verification dates. SHA also directed the facilities to ensure that all supporting documentation relating to their claims is available when officials conduct the verification exercise.

The authority said the updated list of facilities and revised schedule had been published on its official website, allowing healthcare providers to establish when they are expected to participate in the exercise.

The claims being reviewed date from the period when NHIF was still operating. Following the transition to the Social Health Authority and the new health insurance framework, SHA has taken responsibility for addressing outstanding administrative and claims-related matters inherited from the former system.

Healthcare providers affected by the revised timetable have therefore been urged to review the updated information and prepare the required documents ahead of their scheduled verification.

The latest notice forms part of SHA’s ongoing efforts to address outstanding NHIF claims and administrative issues arising from the transition to the new health insurance system.

For affected facilities, confirming the revised dates and ensuring that all relevant claim documentation is readily available will be essential ahead of the verification exercise.
