Edo: You, Isaac Is Hereby Sentenced To Death By Hanging, Or Through Admin Of Lethal Injection-Momodu

Justice Aigbona Momodu of the Edo State Special Criminal Court has sentenced a convicted kidnapper, Marvelous Isaac, to death by hanging over his involvement in kidnapping offences in the state.

Justice Momodu delivered the judgment during proceedings reported by Channels Television on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, sentencing Isaac to seven years imprisonment on the first count of the charge.

However, the court imposed the death penalty on Isaac on counts two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight and nine after finding him guilty of the offences contained in the charges.

Delivering the sentence, Justice Momodu said Isaac would be executed by hanging or through the administration of a lethal injection, in accordance with the court’s pronouncement.

The judge stated, “In count one, you Marvelous Isaac is hereby sentenced to 7 years imprisonment. In count 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9, you Marvelous Isaac is hereby sentenced to death by hanging or through the administration of a lethal injection. You shall be hanged by the neck till you are dead. May the Lord have mercy on you.”

The ruling means Isaac received a custodial sentence on the first count while the remaining eight counts attracted the death penalty.

The sentencing forms part of proceedings before the Edo State Special Criminal Court involving cases of kidnapping and other serious criminal offences. The court’s pronouncement followed the conclusion of the case against Isaac, with Justice Momodu formally announcing the punishment attached to each count.
