In Assin-Fosu, Ghana, police rescued 30-year-old Bismarck Amoh, who, according to MyJoyOnline, was allegedly kidnapped on September 6, 2026. The man is in a medical facility, where he is receiving assistance.

Ransom demand

According to information collected by police, the suspects initially demanded 45,000 Ghanaian cedis from Amoh’s family and gave them 24 hours to raise the money. The family allegedly received recordings via WhatsApp showing the man tied up and subjected to physical violence. In the recordings, he asked his relatives to urgently raise the money for his release.

Police say the perpetrators used Amoh’s phone to contact his family via WhatsApp. Relatives, friends and concerned individuals raised 19,500 Ghanaian cedis, which were paid to the suspects.

Police operation

After receiving the money, the suspects, according to law enforcement, did not release the man and demanded another 30,500 Ghanaian cedis. Thus, the total amount demanded reached 49,500 Ghanaian cedis. They also gave the family another eight hours and allegedly threatened to kill Amoh and destroy his phones if the additional amount was not paid.

The Central North Regional Police Command conducted an operation that resulted in the man’s rescue. Law enforcement officers are working to identify and detain those involved in the alleged kidnapping.
