Former Senator representing Katsina South, Bello Mandiya, has died at the age of 62.

Mandiya died on Monday, September 7, 2026, according to a statement issued by Ibrahim Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda.

Radda expressed shock and sadness over the death, describing it as a great loss to Katsina State and Nigeria.

“I received with shock and deep sadness the news of the death of Senator Bello Mandiya. His passing is a great loss to Katsina State and Nigeria,” the governor said.

Radda described Mandiya as a committed public servant who contributed to the development of Katsina State and Nigeria.

“Senator Mandiya dedicated part of his life to public service and served our people with commitment. His contributions will remain remembered,” he added.

According to the governor, Mandiya served as Chief of Staff to former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari before being elected to the Senate, where he represented Katsina South from 2019 to 2023.

“His experience and service at both the state and federal levels remain part of his legacy,” Radda said.

The governor condoled with Mandiya’s family, former Governor Masari, the people of Katsina South, his political associates and friends, as well as his colleagues in the ninth Senate.

“I pray Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, reward his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. May Allah give his family and loved ones the strength to bear this painful loss,” Radda added.
