Ghanaian media personality and politician Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu has arrived in Abuja to begin his national assignment as Ghana’s High Commissioner-designate to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Permanent Representative to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

In a Facebook post announcing his arrival, Baba Sadiq said he was taking up the role with a commitment to strengthening the longstanding Ghana-Nigeria relationship and creating new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.

“September begins in Abuja.

I arrived in Abuja yesterday to commence my national assignment as Ghana’s High Commissioner-designate to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, with a commitment to strengthening the enduring Ghana-Nigeria relationship and building bridges of opportunity,” he stated.

His new diplomatic assignment comes as Ghana and Nigeria continue to deepen cooperation across areas including trade, investment, regional integration, security and people-to-people relations.

Baba Sadiq is expected to formally take up his responsibilities following the completion of the required diplomatic processes.
