The Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group (BAT-IG) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the deployment of 37 electric buses in Abuja under the Renewed Hope Mass Transit Programme, describing the initiative as a practical response to the transportation challenges facing civil servants.
The group said the intervention was particularly significant because it came shortly after its Convener, Bamidele Atoyebi, submitted a proposal to President Tinubu on August 13, 2026, urging the Federal Government to provide affordable transportation for workers across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). Atoyebi, according to the group, made the proposal after engagements with civil servants at the National Broadcasting Commission, a military hospital and other federal institutions in Abuja on August 12, where workers expressed concerns over the rising cost of transportation and its impact on their incomes.
BAT-IG had proposed the deployment of CNG buses to MDAs, the expansion of vehicle conversion centres and other government interventions aimed at reducing the transportation burden on workers.
While the latest government intervention involves electric buses rather than the CNG buses proposed by the group, BAT-IG said it welcomed the decision to directly address the transportation difficulties confronting civil servants.
The group noted that the 37 buses constitute the first phase of a planned 100-electric-bus fleet, with the programme expected to expand beyond Abuja to other Federal Secretariats across the country.
BAT-IG commended President Tinubu for responding to concerns about workers’ welfare and for pursuing practical interventions under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The group said it would continue to identify challenges affecting Nigerians and advocate people-oriented projects and policies capable of translating government programmes into tangible benefits for citizens.
“As of today, BAT-IG has proposed more than 70 people-oriented interventions and development proposals across different communities, streets, wards, Local Government Areas and states, including proposals submitted within the past two days,” the statement said.
The group said its approach to supporting the Tinubu administration went beyond defending government policies to identifying gaps and presenting workable solutions.
“For BAT-IG, this is the essence of ideological support for President Tinubu: not merely defending government policies, but identifying gaps, presenting workable solutions and supporting the administration to deliver projects that directly improve the lives of Nigerians,” it said.
BAT-IG said it would continue to document challenges, advocate solutions and mobilise support for interventions that could improve the lives of Nigerians, while highlighting the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The group congratulated President Tinubu on the transportation intervention and urged the Federal Government to sustain and expand the programme to reach more workers and communities across the country.
