Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has called on New Patriotic Party (NPP) members to close ranks after the party’s internal elections, describing unity as the “key ingredient” needed to win the 2028 elections.
Speaking when newly elected Greater Accra regional executives and constituency chairpersons paid a courtesy call on him, Dr. Bawumia said there was significant work ahead of the party, which could only be achieved through unity.
“So there’s a lot of work ahead of us, and we are going to do that work in unity. If we are united, I’m telling you, we will win 2028. That is the key ingredient for victory. It’s unity,” he said.
He called on the various candidates who contested the internal elections to come together now that the contests were over.
“This election is over. You’ve had competitors. Let us come together,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia also backed Greater Accra Regional Chairman-elect, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye’s commitment to make use of the talents and experience of all contestants. He said keeping capable party members on the sidelines would not serve the NPP’s interests as it prepares for the 2028 elections.
“Because if we keep our talents at home or in the cupboard, it doesn’t help the party. We want to use everybody’s talents to get victory for the party,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia also expressed his willingness to work with all members of the party as the NPP continues its reorganisation ahead of the 2028 elections.
“I am open to work with everybody,” he said.
