A truck has killed a pedestrian in a lone accident around Kara bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway corridor of Ogun State.
Spokesperson of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency ( TRACE) Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.
Akinbiyi said that the accident occurred at about 12:05 pm on Sunday.
He said that operatives of Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) police and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority were on ground for rescue mission.Truck kills pedestrian
The TRACE Spokesperson said that the accident occurred when the Mack truck with the registration number GDD 215 XD reportedly suffered break failure and crushed the pedestrian.
He said that the presumed dead had been deposited at a morgue by FRSC.
Akinbiyi said that the truck ha been taken out of the container and towed to the Adigboluja Police station for further investigation.
He added that another truck and crane were being awaited to remove the container from the roadway and the roadside.
The spokesperson that the accident caused traffic disruption on the expressway, while traffic operatives continued efforts to manage the situation.
He, however, commiserate with the family of the deceased.
