Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) Managing Director, Yushau A. Shuaib, has announced the forthcoming release of his memoir, “Mni vs. Mnipr in NIPSS: Tackling Institutional Bullying”, a 205‑page account detailing his controversial experience at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.
He stated this on Monday during IMPR’s mid‑year press briefing, where the organisation also outlined major achievements across journalism, strategic communication and public‑interest advocacy.
Shuaib said the memoir chronicles events that led to his withdrawal from the Senior Executive Course (SEC 47), including allegations of unlawful access to his private email, attribution of authorship of a publication he insists he did not write, and disciplinary actions he describes as disproportionate and procedurally flawed.
He added that the book also examines the role of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), which terminated its Memorandum of Understanding with IMPR during the controversy.
He revealed that despite formally petitioning the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) over the alleged interception of his private email, “no action has been taken against the named suspects more than a year after the petitions were submitted.”
“These experiences reinforce my conviction that justice delayed not only affects individuals but can erode public confidence in institutions established to uphold the rule of law,” Shuaib said.
Also speaking at the briefing, investigative journalist and publisher of Daily Nigerian, Malam Jaafar Jaafar, praised Shuaib for his courage and tenacity in documenting his experiences as a stand against institutional bullying.
He described the PRNigeria publisher as a consistent advocate of justice who has, over the years, used communication to defend the downtrodden and vulnerable members of society.
He said Shuaib’s resilience in confronting powerful institutions should serve as a model for others facing similar challenges.
Also speaking at the event, Editor‑in‑Chief of World Entourage, Haruna Abdullahi Haruspice, presented a review described the memoir as a powerful interrogation of institutional culture at Nigeria’s foremost leadership academy.
He praised Shuaib’s intellectual honesty in recognising the subjectivity of memoirs, adding that the narrative invites national reflection on due process, administrative fairness and the balance between discipline and intellectual freedom.
“Great institutions are not diminished by scrutiny; they are strengthened by it,” Haruspice said.
Shuaib also presented IMPR’s mid‑year performance, noting that the organisation had sustained its reputation for credible, data‑driven reporting across security, governance, economy, technology, health and public communication. IMPR’s media ecosystem now includes PRNigeria, Economic Confidential, Spokespersons Digest, Politics Digest, Emergency Digest, TechDigest, HealthDigest, Entertainment Digest and Arewa Agenda.
He announced that IMPR’s strategic communication campaigns for the Nigeria Customs Service and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) won continental honours at the 2026 SABRE Africa Awards, while campaigns for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), NITDA and the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC) have been shortlisted for the 2026 IPRA Golden World Awards in Athens. IMPR was also listed on the PR Power List 2026.
Shuaib outlined IMPR’s flagship programmes for the second half of the year, including the National Spokespersons Awards and the Economic Confidential Annual Lecture in August, the Security and Emergency Management Awards (SAEMA) in November, and the Arewa Stars Awards (ASA) in December.
He announced the release of four new IMPR publications: “AI in Crisis Communication,” “Communicating Revenue and Monetary Reform,” “The Distinguished 109: Profile of Nigeria’s 10th Senate,” and “The Community Policing Playbook.”
The 2026 PRNigeria Young Communication Fellowship attracted 690 applications for 30 slots, with training scheduled for Abuja, Kano and Ilorin, including at the newly established PRNigeria Training Academy in Lugbe, donated by Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo.
Shuaib reaffirmed IMPR’s commitment to credible journalism, strategic communication and knowledge‑driven solutions.
