Izzy Ogbeide defends young creators amid YCee–Peller debate

Media personality Izzy Ogbeide has weighed in on the ongoing debate started by rapper YCee’s criticism of content creator Peller.

Responding to YCee’s remarks about what he called an “Olodo uprising” or “Peller culture,” Izzy argued that it is unfair to blame young people for broader societal and governmental failures.

According to her, many Nigerian youths are victims of the same economic and social conditions that older generations complain about.

She questioned why young people who are trying to survive and create opportunities for themselves should be criticized for adapting to difficult circumstances.

Izzy maintained that society often directs its frustration toward young people instead of addressing the systemic issues that contribute to unemployment, poverty, and limited opportunities.

She suggested that both critics and content creators are affected by the same challenges and should not be positioned as adversaries.

Izzy further argued that Nigeria tends to be particularly harsh in its judgment of young people, noting that many youths are simply trying to navigate a system that has failed them.

Her words …

“I don’t see anywhere in the world where a grown man blames a young person for the fåilures of society and government. You’re blaming victims of the same circumstances that you’re also suffering from. There is no society that cøndemns young people more than Nigerian society. How can you blame a victim of the same system that fåiled both me and you, even though he somehow managed to escape the matrix?”
