Nigerian Police Force (NPF)

A 38-year-old man has been arrested by police operatives in Ondo State for allegedly beating his 65-year-old father to death.

The suspect identified as Kingsley Nsikak had engaged in a heated argument with his biological father, Peter Adone, at their residence in the Oda axis of the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, the deceased sustained severe injury during the violent confrontation.

The police spokesperson disclosed that Adone later succumbed to his wounds despite efforts by medical personnel to revive him.

While stating that the remains of the deceased father had been deposited in the morgue, Jimoh stressed that the son will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The PPRO said, “The Ondo State Police Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, psc, mnips, mspsp, has arrested a 38-year-old man, identified as Nsikak Kingsley, for his alleged involvement in the death of his biological father, Adone Peter, aged 65 years.”

“The tragic incident occurred in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State, and has generated widespread concern among residents of the area.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that on 28th May, 2026, the suspect allegedly engaged his father in a violent altercation that escalated into a physical assault.

“Following a formal complaint lodged at the police station by one Daniel Moses, a son of the deceased and brother to the suspect, detectives promptly commenced investigation into the matter. Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives apprehended the suspect and took him into custody for questioning.

“The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary for preservation and autopsy while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough, discreet, and comprehensive investigation.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, strongly condemned the act, describing it as unfortunate, reprehensible, and contrary to societal values. He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that justice is served and that any person found culpable of criminal offenses is made to face the full weight of the law.

“The Commissioner further urged members of the public to shun violence in all its forms and embrace peaceful and lawful means of resolving disputes, irrespective of the circumstances. He emphasized that disagreements, whether within families or communities, should never degenerate into acts of violence capable of resulting in injury or loss of life.”
