The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Ghana, in partnership with GUBA Enterprise, will host a landmark parliamentary event on Thursday 4 June 2026, bringing Ghana’s economic leadership directly to Westminster to make the case for investment, partnership and growth.
Taking place in Parliament from 3.30pm on 4 June, the event will convene Members of Parliament, policymakers, senior business leaders, investors and members of the Ghanaian diaspora to hear first-hand from the architects of Ghana’s economic resurgence — and to explore what it means for UK-Ghana relations.
Ghana’s story is one of the most remarkable economic turnarounds anywhere in the world. GDP grew at 6.1% in 2025, the fastest rate in years. Inflation has been driven down from 23.8% to 3.4%. The cedi has appreciated by over 40% against the dollar. And for the first time in its history, Ghana’s economy has crossed the $100 billion mark, placing it among the ten largest on the African continent. Fitch, Moody’s and S&P all upgraded Ghana’s credit rating in the same year. The country has moved, in the Finance Minister’s own words, from IMF supplicant to partner.
The event will open with keynote remarks fromGhana’s Finance Minister, Hon. Dr Cassiel Ato Forson MP, who will outline the government’s economic reset programme and investment agenda. Dr Forson has described the recovery in unambiguous terms: “We have restored fiscal discipline, brought inflation under control, stabilised the cedi, and rekindled investor confidence. To our international partners and investors — Ghana is back: strong, credible, and open for business.”
Guests will also hear from Mr Goosie Tanoh, Presidential Adviser and lead architect of Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy initiative, one of the continent’s most ambitious strategies for stimulating round-the-clock economic activity, creating jobs and driving industrial growth at scale.
The afternoon will conclude with a chaired discussion featuring both speakers, moderated by Martine Dennis, the internationally respected journalist and broadcaster, allowing attendees to engage directly on Ghana’s economic outlook, investment climate and long-term development strategy.
Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP, Chair of the APPG for Ghana, said:
“Ghana is one of the UK’s most important partners in Africa, and its recent economic transformation is nothing short of extraordinary. This is not a recovery story — it is a growth story, and UK businesses and investors should be paying close attention.
We are proud to welcome Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and Presidential Adviser Goosie Tanoh to Parliament. This is a rare opportunity to engage directly with the people shaping Ghana’s economic future and to explore the real and significant opportunities for deeper trade, investment and collaboration between our two countries.”
