Christians Encouraged to Use God-Given Spiritual Gifts

By Daniel Agbesi Latsu

Fiave (V/R), June 1, GNA – Reverend Alfred Agbetsiafa, Fiave District Pastor of The Church of Pentecost, has urged Christians to identify and utilise their God-given spiritual gifts to bring transformation to their lives and society.

Delivering a sermon titled “Release the Giant in You” during a Sunday service at the Ho-Fiave Central Assembly of The Church of Pentecost, Rev. Agbetsiafa said believers possess immense spiritual potential through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and must not allow fear, ignorance, or self-doubt to hinder them.

Quoting 1 John 4:4, he said: “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world,” stressing that when the Holy Spirit is released in a person’s life, a mighty giant emerges, resulting in positive transformation.

The Pastor noted that ignorance of one’s God-given endowments could lead to a life of limitation and bondage.

He cited the example of Peter the Apostle, who transformed from a fearful disciple into a bold preacher after being filled with the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, leading more than 3,000 people to accept Christ.

Rev. Agbetsiafa said wherever the light of God is present, darkness cannot prevail.

Referencing Acts 3:1–8, he recounted how Peter healed a lame man at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, giving him something far greater than the alms he had expected.

He said God has endowed believers with diverse spiritual gifts, including healing, the word of knowledge, and other abilities intended to advance His kingdom and benefit humanity.

The Pastor observed that many people underestimate their capabilities and fail to make use of the gifts entrusted to them by God.

He urged Christians to rise above self-imposed limitations and demonstrate the potential God has placed within them.

Quoting Isaiah 60:1–2, Rev. Agbetsiafa encouraged the congregation to arise and shine, explaining that God’s glory has already been deposited in believers and must be expressed through active service and faith.

He called on Christians to release the “giant” within them by making effective use of their gifts and talents, assuring them that doing so would bring transformation and positive change to their lives.
