Black Maidens edge Liberia to reach final round of FIFA U-17 World Cup qualifiers – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

Ghana’s Black Maidens sealed their place in the final round of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers with another commanding performance, defeating Liberia 2-0 in the second leg to complete an emphatic 8-0 aggregate triumph.

Having already established a massive advantage with a 6-0 victory in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Black Maidens travelled to Monrovia full of confidence and finished the job in style.

The visitors took control of proceedings early and were rewarded in the 15th minute when Seidatu Wahab found the back of the net to give Ghana the lead. The goal settled any nerves and allowed the Maidens to dictate the pace of the game as they continued to create chances against their hosts.

Liberia attempted to respond and reduce the deficit, but Ghana’s disciplined defence remained solid and denied the home side any clear opportunities.

The Black Maidens returned from the break with the same intensity and doubled their advantage in the 51st minute through Juliana Gyekyewaa. Her well-taken strike effectively ended any hopes of a Liberian comeback and underlined Ghana’s superiority across both legs.

The victory capped a flawless qualifying tie for the Black Maidens, who scored eight goals without conceding a single one. Their attacking quality, defensive organisation and overall dominance highlighted why they remain one of Africa’s strongest youth women’s football teams.

Coach and players will be delighted with the professional manner in which they handled both matches, maintaining focus despite carrying a comfortable first-leg lead into the return fixture.

With the Liberian challenge successfully overcome, the Black Maidens now turn their attention to the final qualifying round, where they will be aiming to secure a place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and continue Ghana’s proud tradition on the global stage.

The comprehensive aggregate victory serves as another statement of intent from the young Ghanaian side as they move one step closer to achieving their World Cup dream.
