Medeama win second Ghana Premier League title in three years after Gold Stars slip up – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

Medeama have won the Ghana Premier League title for the second time in three years after a commanding 5-2 victory over Heart of Lions at the TnA Stadium on Sunday.

The Tarkwa-based side secured the championship with a game to spare after closest challengers Bibiani Gold Stars suffered defeat to Dreams earlier in the day.

Medeama headed into the crucial fixture knowing victory, combined with Gold Stars dropping points, would confirm them as champions once again following their first title triumph in 2023.

Despite heavy rainfall delaying kickoff at the TnA Stadium, the home side produced a dominant display in front of their supporters.

Kelvin Obeng gave Medeama the lead in the 18th minute before adding his second later in the first half to put the hosts firmly in control.

Heart of Lions briefly threatened a comeback after pulling one back, but Medeama remained ruthless in attack.

Derrick Fordjour scored twice in the second half, while Prince Owusu added another late goal to complete the emphatic victory.

Heart of Lions managed two goals of their own, including a late penalty from Etse Dogl, but the result never looked in doubt as Medeama closed in on the title.

The triumph confirms another historic campaign for Medeama, who will now represent Ghana in next season’s CAF Champions League.
