“Lack of concentration at the back” – Hamza Obeng reacts to Asante Kotoko SC defeat

Interim head coach Hamza Obeng has blamed defensive lapses for Asante Kotoko SC’s 2-0 defeat to Dreams FC, admitting his side struggled with organization at the back.

Reflecting on the performance, Obeng pointed to a breakdown in concentration and structure in defence as the key factor behind the loss.

“Well, I think a bit of a lack of concentration at the back line. That is where we had the problem,” he said.

The coach further highlighted issues with positioning and coordination among his defenders, which left the team vulnerable.

“There was disorganization at the back line, and we were not able to find the line where we were supposed to organize ourselves,” he explained.

Obeng, however, remains focused on addressing the shortcomings, stressing that improvements will be made on the training ground ahead of upcoming fixtures.

“In our coming games, that’s what we will work on, especially with corrections at the training grounds, and make sure we organize ourselves very well at the back in terms of defending,” he added.

The result continues a difficult run of form for Kotoko, who have managed just one win in their last six matches, losing four in that period.

The Porcupine Warriors have now slipped to eighth place on the league table with 43 points, increasing pressure on the technical team to turn results around.
