Luxe South Africa educational for six Forth & Wonder agents

Forth & Wonder have recently completed an immersive educational journey through South Africa, hosting five luxury travel advisors on an exclusive 11-day itinerary. The Melbourne-based designers of tailor-made luxury African safari travel explored Greater Kruger, Cape Winelands and Cape Town, placing first-hand knowledge and genuine partnerships at the centre of its business.

Led by Travel Designer Lisa Burke, the invitation-only trip was carefully curated to showcase the diversity of a luxury South African experience, moving seamlessly from city to coast, countryside, and ultimately safari.

The journey began in Johannesburg with a stay at Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa, offering a calm and refined introduction. From there, the group travelled to Cape Town for three nights at Cape Grace and Cape Cadogan, two distinct properties offering contrasting perspectives of one of the world’s most iconic cities. Experiences included guided touring of Table Mountain and Robben Island, alongside inspections of standout properties such as The Silo Hotel and Ellerman House.

Following a full day exploring and wine tasting through Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, including a hosted lunch at Virgin Limited Edition’s Mont Rochelle, the group spent the evening in the Winelands at La Residence, known for its striking design, vineyard setting, and acclaimed cellar.

The experience culminated with five nights on safari across Thornybush Game Lodge, Lion Sands River Lodge and Dulini Moya, located within the private reserves of the Greater Kruger region. Advisors experienced exceptional game drives and wildlife sightings, guided bush walks, and boma dinners under the stars, all delivered with a sense of understated luxury.

“South Africa never fails to deliver,” said Burke. “From consistently outstanding game viewing across the reserves, including leopard, lion and wild dog, to the sheer spectacle of Cape Town and the Winelands. A personal highlight was a birthday celebration at La Residence’s exclusive private villa, where the team made us feel completely at home – a reminder of just how special the hospitality here is.”

Forth & Wonder offers its agents more than a brochure — it delivers the real experience through immersive familiarisation trips. Advisors stay at luxury properties, take part in activities, and experience the hospitality of guides and staff first-hand, gaining the insight and confidence to move beyond recommending Africa to authentically selling it to their clients.

Advisor feedback

“As this was my first trip to South Africa, it was amazing in every sense. From the vibrant city of Cape Town to the unforgettable safaris and beautiful lodges in Thornybush Reserve and Sabi Sands, it was truly an unforgettable trip. One of the many highlights was the wildlife viewing, especially the leopards,” said Kate Vasiliou, Mosman Travel.

“It really was one of the very best famil trips I have ever been on – the accommodation throughout was stunning, the guides and hosts were excellent, and the leopard sightings were hard to beat. I cannot wait to go back to Africa,” remarked Tony Freedman, Travel Associates.
