The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has appealed to party members who are yet to receive government appointments to remain patient and committed, stressing that political rewards often come over time.

In a video snippet shared by 3news on April 21, 2026, Asiedu Nketiah cautioned against the assumption that the party’s return to power automatically guarantees positions for all members.

“If you didn’t get an appointment when the government had 120 ministers, what is your chance of getting a position when we now have 60 ministers?” he asked.

His comments follow a policy direction by President John Dramani Mahama to reduce the size of government, including cutting the number of ministers from 120 to 60; a move widely praised within the party.

“And when President Mahama suggested reducing ministers from 120 to 60, we were all clapping,” he noted.

Asiedu Nketiah, however, acknowledged the disappointment among some party faithful but urged them to adopt a long-term perspective, emphasising that benefits in politics are not always immediate or evenly distributed.

“In politics, you may join, but your benefit will not come at the same time as others.

“Some may not benefit directly, but their children may benefit in the future,” he added.

He warned that frustrations over appointments should not lead to internal divisions or actions that could undermine the party.

“If you say because you were not appointed you will undermine those who were, then you will be destroying the party and all of us,” he cautioned.
