An aspiring Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Asante Mampong Constituency, Beatrice Nana Yaa Owarewa Siaw, has disclosed that she admires President John Dramani Mahama.

According to her, because of this admiration, it is difficult for her to criticise the president’s decisions regarding the management of the Ghanaian economy.

Speaking in an interview on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on March 24, 2026, Beatrice Nana Yaa Owarewa Siaw stated that although she belongs to the opposition NPP and loves her party, she is impressed with President Mahama.

“I admire President Mahama, so it’s hard to speak against him. Even though I am an NPP member, I do love my party…I am impressed with the President [but] not necessarily impressed with how things are going,” she said.

I have done over GH¢40 billion of projects in my constituency – NPP PC aspirant

In a viral video sighted by GhanaWeb on February 24, 2026, Beatrice generated controversy with her claim that she has undertaken projects estimated at over 40 billion within a year.

She indicated that the projects were all financed from her personal resources.

“I got into politics to make a difference. I thought I could shape lives and touch people within the Asante Mampong environs,” she said in a past interview.

According to her, the projects which she estimates at about GH¢40 billion include boreholes, school support programmes, hospital ward construction and the removal of a long-standing refuse dump.

She added that her motivation stems partly from her roots in the area.

“Being a citizen from there and also from the royal family, I believe it is my right to help my people. If not me, who? If not now, when?” she emphasised.
