The Ministry of Education has announced that Ghana will resume participation in the international version of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) starting in 2026.
Speaking at the 74th annual council meeting of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in Accra, Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, said the decision follows directives from President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
“The move will enable Ghana to join other member states in administering the 2026 WASSCE under the WAEC framework,” he stated.
Dr. Apaak further assured that the Ministry would continue to work closely with WAEC to uphold the integrity of the examination process.
“The Ministry of Education remains committed to collaborating closely with the Council to ensure a process that safeguards the credibility of our examinations,” he added.
WAEC had suspended the WASSCE in March 2020 due to the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and government protocols to curb its spread.
