Ondimo nearly doubled the lead moments later after latching onto a long diagonal pass from David Odhiambo, but his close-range effort drifted narrowly wide.
Despite the early dominance of Nicholas Muyoti‘s charges, TBM gradually grew into the contest and began threatening on the counterattack.

Dickson Raila came close midway through the half, connecting with a delivery from David Onyango, but his header flashed wide.
The hosts eventually restored parity at the half-hour mark when Onyango capitalised on a well-worked move involving Regan Ochieng and Dennis Akumu to loop the ball past Police goalkeeper Daniel Ogembo.
