According to Kumi, the time had come for a renewed sense of purpose and energy within the party
A former parliamentary aspirant for the Adenta Constituency in Accra and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alfred Ababio Kumi, popularly known as Adenta Kumi, has declared his intention to contest for the position of National Youth Organiser of the party.
Announcing his aspiration during a press conference on March 2, 2026, Adenta Kumi said the time had come for a renewed sense of purpose and energy within the party, particularly among its youthful base.
He noted that the NPP had for years been perceived as having only a few regional strongholds, a narrative he believes must change.
“The battles fought by our fathers and mothers still call on us today. We cannot stand by and watch. We must rise, roll up our sleeves, step into the streets, and confront the challenges ahead with courage and unity,” he stated.
Presenting himself as “a brother” rather than a politician, Adenta Kumi said he was motivated by a desire to reopen opportunities for young people within the party and restore what he described as its “winning spirit.”
According to him, the NPP is gradually drifting from its youthful energy, with party structures appearing fatigued and many young people losing faith.
“My vision is simple and clear: Make the NPP attractive to the youth again. Our mission is urgent: Restore hope and opportunity for young people across Ghana,” he said.

He outlined a series of initiatives he intends to pursue if elected, including the establishment of a National Youth Secretariat focused on youth policy and research, as well as a Youth Skills and Jobs Pipeline to connect young people to employment opportunities in technology, agriculture, entrepreneurship and industry.
Other proposals include the creation of a National Youth Volunteer Corps to strengthen community engagement and a Digital Youth Mobilisation Hub aimed at enhancing the party’s online presence and strategic communication.
