A 26-year-old Nigerian, Afeez Adewale, has been extradited to the United States to face federal charges linked to sexual extortion and the death of a young man in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

The extradition was confirmed in a statement by US Attorney, David Metcalf released by the Department of Justice.

Adewale faces charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering and made his first appearance in federal court in Philadelphia before US Magistrate Judge Lynne Sitarski on Tuesday.

Adewale was initially arrested in Nigeria on August 17, 2023, as part of a coordinated FBI operation targeting individuals involved in sexual extortion against minors in the United States.

He was extradited to the US on February 13, 2026, with the assistance of the Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs, the FBI Legal Attaché in Abuja, and the FBI, which took him into custody upon arrival.

“The cooperation of Nigerian authorities was crucial to this process, particularly the Attorney General of the Federation, the Federal Ministry of Justice’s International Criminal Justice Cooperation Department, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,” the DOJ statement said.

Adewale’s co-defendants, 27-year-old Imoleayo Aina, also known as Alice Dave, and 26-year-old Samuel Abiodun, had been extradited to the US in August 2024.

Abiodun pleaded guilty to money laundering conspiracy and wire fraud and was sentenced to five years in prison by US District Judge Joel H. Slomsky in June 2025.

Aina later pleaded guilty to cyberstalking, interstate threats to injure reputation, receiving proceeds of extortion, money laundering conspiracy, and wire fraud, receiving a six-year sentence from the same judge in October 2025.
