The Northern Region office of the Bible Society of Ghana (BSG), an interdenominational Christian organization, has joined the nationwide 2026 Bible Week celebration, aimed at encouraging Bible reading and usage in homes, schools, and churches, while mobilizing support for Bible work across the country.
As part of the week-long activities, the leadership of the Society visited several churches across the region, where they were given the opportunity to address congregations and share the mission and vision of the Bible Society of Ghana.
Addressing congregants at the Aboabo Assembly of God Church in Tamale, Reverend Fr. Robert Quarshie Amegah, a member of the Northern Regional Oversight Committee of the Bible Society of Ghana, called on Christians to live together in peace and mutual respect as people of faith. He emphasized that accepting Jesus Christ and living by biblical principles would promote peace, development, and the fulfillment of people’s heartfelt aspirations.
Rev. Fr. Amengah also preached strongly against corruption, describing it as a major threat to national welfare and development. He urged believers to uphold integrity and righteousness in all aspects of life, stressing that moral discipline is essential for the progress of the nation.
He reiterated the Bible Society of Ghana’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that every Ghanaian has access to the Word of God in his or her mother tongue, as the Society intensifies efforts to expand its programmes and projects nationwide.
According to him, the Society’s vision includes broadening its reach through initiatives such as Bible translation, trauma healing, literacy programmes, and advocacy, all aimed at deepening faith and transforming society.
He revealed that the Bible Society of Ghana is preparing to embark on new Bible translation projects to ensure that more Ghanaians can read and understand God’s Word in languages they are most familiar with, noting that language remains a powerful tool for meaningful engagement with Scripture.
Rev. Fr. Amengah further emphasized the importance of partnership and collaboration, expressing appreciation to churches, members, donors, and volunteers for their continued financial support, ideas, and commitment, which he described as crucial to advancing Bible ministry in Ghana.
Speaking on behalf of the Society, the Northern Regional Manager of the Bible Society of Ghana, Rev. Anaara Atiah Charles, called on individuals and churches to actively support Bible translation projects, Bible engagement programmes, and Bible distribution initiatives, describing them as vital to spiritual growth and national development.
“Let us make it our shared ministry to deliver the Word of God to every Ghanaian in his or her mother tongue. We appeal for support to enable us translate more Bibles,” he urged, reminding supporters that the guiding belief of the Society remains that “The Word is our life.”
Rev. Anaara expressed gratitude to all partners involved in what he described as “kingdom business,” offering prayers for God’s blessings upon their ministries and reaffirming that all glory belongs to God alone.
He disclosed that the Bible Society of Ghana has so far translated the Bible into eleven Ghanaian languages, including Dagbani, and encouraged Christians to uphold moral values, integrity, and hard work in their workplaces, noting that God blesses diligence.
The 2026 Bible Week celebration is being observed under the theme: “The Bible: Guide for Work Ethics and National Development.”
