Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh is 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate
The 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has called on party members to embrace peace before, during, and after the party’s internal presidential election.
Speaking after casting his vote at St Anne’s Anglican Church in Ash Town, Manhyia South Constituency, Dr Opoku Prempeh urged supporters to set aside their differences once the election is over.
Ahead of the polls, aspirants and their supporters actively campaigned, shared their ideas, and sought to convince delegates.
Dr Opoku Prempeh emphasised that such contests should remain healthy.
He stated that elections should be battles of ideas, not conflicts.
“I’m hopeful the party will emerge stronger after the election. The outcome will undoubtedly make the party more united and better positioned for other internal elections,” he said, according to a report by 3News.

Dr Opoku Prempeh described the voting process as smooth, orderly, and peaceful, and encouraged delegates to vote responsibly.
“I urge all party delegates to proceed to their respective polling stations to exercise their right to vote in a calm and responsible manner, strictly observing all the rules governing this important exercise,” he added.

He also praised the visible police presence at the venue and urged party members to respect security personnel.
At the St Anne’s Anglican Church polling centre, 649 delegates were expected to vote under tight security. Representatives of all five presidential aspirants were present, monitoring the process as voting continued in a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
