Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah is the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources
The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has announced that the government has begun a comprehensive review and audit of all public lands sold in recent years to ensure transparency and value for money.
According to him, a special team, led by his deputy and approved by Cabinet, has been constituted to oversee the audit.
He made the disclosure during a visit by Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources on Tuesday January 27, 2026.
Armah-Kofi Buah explained that the move is aimed at curbing the abuse of lands acquired by the state for specific purposes, such as agriculture.
“We have begun the process of reviewing these transactions. One of the things we have all heard is that public lands acquired by the government for specific purposes, some for agriculture; have, in some cases, been abused by those entrusted to protect them,” he said.

“All public lands that have been sold are undergoing review to ensure there was value for money and that proper process audits were conducted. Those that did not complete the required processes will be automatically cancelled. We are taking steps to ensure full implementation, to give the people of Ghana confidence that we will protect public lands,” the minister added.
He warned that officials found to have engaged in irregular land transactions would be named and shamed.
The minister further explained that all land sales are being scrutinised to determine whether due process was followed, adding that transactions that failed to meet legal and administrative requirements would be automatically cancelled.
Buah assured Ghanaians that the initiative is intended to restore public confidence in the management of state lands.
The audit forms part of the government’s broader commitment to safeguard national assets and strengthen accountability in land administration.
