The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi, has challenged New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Dr Bryan Acheampong to provide evidence that he was among the 62 Members of Parliament allegedly supported financially by Dr Acheampong during the period the NPP was in power.

According to Okyere Baafi, he has never received any money from Dr Acheampong at any point and insists that his name should not be associated with the alleged financial support.

He warned that if Dr Acheampong fails to provide proof, divine judgment would prevail.

“I have dared Dr Bryan Acheampong and I will dare him again to show where he gave me money or included me among the 62 MPs who allegedly received funds. He should show me clearly. If he cannot prove it, then God will deal with all of us,” he stated.

Speaking in a radio interview excerpt of which have been shared on social media, Okyere Baafi further claimed that he played a key role in Dr Acheampong’s appointment as a minister under the administration of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“He is my brother and I was a key influence in his becoming a minister,” he added.

Bryan Acheampong has revealed that he funded 62 NPP MPs with GH¢20,000 every month from 2021 until the party lost power in 2025.

According to the flagbearer hopeful, who disclosed while delivering a campaign speech at Bunsu in the Eastern Region, his motivation for providing the funds was to support the MPs in their campaign activities, among other reasons.

“At that time, I did not hold any position. But from 2021, I gave 62 Members of Parliament GH¢20,000 each every month.

“ I was supporting them so they could all visit their constituencies,” he said.
