Nana Akomea descends on Professor Frimpong-Boateng

According to Akomea (L), Frimpong-Boateng (R) does not qualify to label the NPP as fake According to Akomea (L), Frimpong-Boateng (R) does not qualify to label the NPP as fake

Former Managing Director of the State Transport Company (STC), Nana Akomea, has criticised former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, for describing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a “fake party.”

According to Nana Akomea, Professor Frimpong-Boateng does not qualify to label any political party as fake.

He argued that the former minister himself appears disconnected from the party, having openly admitted that he does not know the party’s General Secretary.

Nana Akomea asserted that the General Secretary has been duly elected and has led the party for nearly four years. He questioned Professor Frimpong-Boateng’s affiliation with the NPP, noting that claiming not to know such a key party official raises serious concerns about his involvement in party affairs.

“Professor Frimpong-Boateng did not speak well and I pray that when he reflects on what he said, he will realise he spoke wrongly and come back to apologise. Who wouldn’t want Professor Frimpong-Boateng in his party?

“Yet he claims he does not even know the General Secretary of the party, who has been elected for about three years. If he doesn’t know him, then who is fake now? He is not in a position to make pronouncements about the party because he does not know what is going on within it,” he said.

Speaking in an interview on UTV on January 15, 2026, Nana Akomea also took aim at Professor Frimpong-Boateng’s comments opposing the possible election of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

The former Member of Parliament for Okaikoi South and a leading member of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team said Professor Frimpong-Boateng’s remarks were inappropriate.

Nana Akomea further criticised the professor’s claim that Dr Bawumia should not be considered because of his association with the previous government.

“He also said Dr Bawumia is still affiliated with the previous government, so he should not be brought forward. But he himself served in the same government, so what exactly is he saying?” he questioned.
