NEW PATRIOTIC Party (NPP) delegates have been urged to vote massively for former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as the party’s flagbearer.

Making the appeal, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, the NPP running mate for the 2024 polls, said the party needs total unity and oneness to win the 2028 elections.

Sounding very confident, he stated emphatically that Dr. Bawumia, throughout his political career, has proven to be peaceful and a unifier, so he should lead the party to victory.

Napo, who is a former Energy Minister, also said Dr. Bawumia is tried, tested and proven, stressing that among the aspirants, he is best positioned to lead the NPP to recapture power in 2028.

“At this critical juncture, we require a leader who can unite all factions, one who has been tried, tested, and proven, and who is best positioned to lead the party to victory in 2028.

“I’m of the firm conviction that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia embodies these qualities, and I’m appealing to you to support him to lead our party forward,” Napo indicated.

The 2024 NPP running mate was addressing former NPP regional and constituency officers in the Ashanti Region, ahead of the January 31, 2026 presidential primary.

Continuing, Napo, who is a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South Constituency, pointed out that the NPP needs to embrace unity in order to win the 2028 polls.

He also highly commended former NPP constituency and regional executives for their invaluable contributions to the party, stressing that the party needs their contributions again.

“I’m aware of your immense contributions for the NPP in the past, and I also thank you wholeheartedly for standing firmly with the party, especially through its most difficult moments.

“I’m also pleading, on behalf of the NPP, for forgiveness for any injustice or unfair treatment that you may have endured in the course of your services to the great party,” he noted.

Napo reiterated that “the party needs you now more than ever,” adding that “every member of the elephant family should come onboard so the NPP can win the 2028 polls.”
