Kojogah Adawudu says Ken Ofori-Atta must account to Ghanaians or risk his family legacy
A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) legal team, Kojogah Adawudu, has strongly criticised former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, over what he describes as his refusal to account for his stewardship while in office, warning that such conduct could permanently stain his family’s legacy.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Monday, January 12, 2026, Adawudu said it was difficult to understand why a former Minister of Finance, fully aware of the principles of public stewardship, would allegedly avoid accountability in the face of serious allegations.
“Why are you running away? For somebody who once occupied the finance position and understands stewardship, why can’t you come and account to the good people of Ghana?” he asked.

Adawudu questioned the long-term consequences of Ofori-Atta’s actions, suggesting that refusing to account could burden his family for generations.
“Is this what you want to leave for your children? That your father refused to account, that your father was uncovered, that your father stole the people’s money? Is that the inheritance you want to leave for your family?” he queried.
In a controversial comparison, Adawudu referenced Ofori-Atta’s great uncle, J B Danquah, and the historical narratives surrounding his detention during the era of Ghana’s first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
“There is already a blot on the family narrative. With all the stories around J B Danquah and what happened between him and Nkrumah, including his unfortunate death in detention, is that the same story you want to repeat and pass down through generations?” he asked.

Adawudu also criticised Ken Ofori-Atta’s posture towards law enforcement agencies, arguing that cooperating with investigations would not amount to humiliation.
“If you are invited by the police and you go willingly, they won’t put handcuffs on you. I was surprised when the Office of the Special Prosecutor once described him as a fugitive, but his own conduct today tells you that he is running,” he said.
The comments come amid renewed public debates following recent reports that Ofori-Atta was detained by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) over issues related to his visa status, adding to his ongoing legal and political challenges both in Ghana and abroad.
