IMANI Africa’s Founding President, Franklin Cudjoe, is receiving widespread support and encouragement from well-wishers following his recent revelation about his health.

In a post on his Facebook page on Thursday, January 8, 2025, Cudjoe disclosed that he has been battling Parkinson’s Disease for more than eight years.

His announcement came after some derogatory comments were made by social media users following his appearance on television for an interview.

Cudjoe explained that certain gestures people observed of him during the interview were linked to his medical condition, offering clarity to those who had questioned his demeanour.

Since then, prominent figures such as Professor Ransford Gyampo, along with numerous social media users, particularly on Facebook, have shared heartfelt messages of solidarity with him.

Many of them have expressed admiration for Cudjoe’s resilience and applauded his continued commitment to public discourse despite his health challenges.

Gyampo wrote on Facebook, “Great minds like Diogenes, Nietzsche, Pascal, and Kant withdrew from public life for a reason. They recognised a fundamental truth: society, in its current state, is beyond redemption by a single well-intentioned person. Preserve your sanity and your spirit. Your fight is over; your peace should begin.

“There are many twisted souls in Ghana. They lack empathy. Their conscience is seared. Franklin Cudjoe has served and continues to serve this nation. Most people don’t know what it takes to care and fight for community. It’s a lonely road most people do not choose. Now he has been put at the forefront of a fight against Parkinson’s skin-deep.”

He further stated that; “…This time, he is not alone. God is a healer and takes special care of those who fight for the weak in society. Franklin Cudjoe qualifies for God’s special care because he has fought for the weak in society and gone beyond his comfort zone for the sake of others,” one user wrote under Gyampo’s Facebook post.
