President John Dramani Mahama has openly endorsed Ghanaian luxury brand Caveman Watches, stating that he personally wears the locally made timepieces.
The President made the remark during a working visit to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), where management of the state broadcaster presented him with a Caveman Watch as a token of appreciation for his visit.
According to GBC officials, the presentation was a symbolic Christmas and New Year gift, meant to express gratitude to the President, even though the visit took place several days into the New Year.
“As far as we are concerned, we are still in the Christmas and New Year mood,” a representative of GBC said. “We would therefore like to make a small Christmas presentation to symbolise how grateful we are for your presence.”
Receiving the watch, President Mahama highlighted its Ghanaian origin and revealed that the brand is already part of his personal collection.
“This is a Caveman Watch. It’s made in Ghana. And it’s the same thing I’m wearing. I wear Caveman Watches. So now I have another one,” he said.
He added, “You couldn’t have chosen a better gift.”
The watch presented to the President was customised with the GBC logo, reflecting support for local craftsmanship and collaboration between public institutions and Ghanaian brands.
Caveman Watches is premium Africa luxury watch brand known for blending African heritage, storytelling and modern design, while promoting the “Made in Ghana” agenda.
President Mahama’s comment drew applause from staff and officials present, reinforcing his call for the patronage of locally manufactured products to help drive economic growth.
The President’s visit to GBC formed part of his engagements with key public institutions, focusing on the role of state media in national development and public accountability.
