President John Mahama (R) has earned the praise of Kwame Pianim (R) President John Mahama (R) has earned the praise of Kwame Pianim (R)

Leading Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Pianim, had nothing but praise for President John Dramani Mahama at the 54th National Delegates Conference of the Ghana National Association of Teachers on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Speaking at the conference, Kwame Pianim, a renowned economist and statesman, praised Mahama, who was also at the event, for attending to the call of teachers in person.

The statesman went on to share a light moment on how Mahama’s actions since he assumed office are dwindling the fortunes of his party.

He indicated that the actions of the president would likely lead to him winning 80% of the support of teachers, which would be bad news for the NPP.

“Mr President, I’m happy and grateful you are here. Whenever the teachers call you, you don’t send just anybody. Some people will not even send the Minister for Education; they would send somebody else.

“But I don’t want to praise you too much, because the way we started with ‘tsoboi’ and then everybody was cheering. On one side we don’t say, we say something else.

He added, “And I don’t want us to lose the support of some of the teachers the way you are going now. You take about 80% of the teachers’ vote, and we don’t want that.”

‘If Mahama helps teachers with housing, our friendship will break’ – Kwame Pianim playfully warns
