Gunfire has been reported at the residence of United States Vice President James David (JD) Vance in Ohio on Monday, January 5, 2025, according to Fox News.

The incident occurred at Vance’s East Walnut Hills home, located on William Howard Taft Drive.

A statement from the US Secret Service disclosed that the suspect broke several of the home’s windows in an attempt to gain access for a possible attack.

It was further noted that one suspect was detained by Secret Service agents upon their arrival at the scene.

The statement also indicated that discussions are ongoing with the US Attorney General’s Office to determine the charges the suspect will face before arraignment.

“The US Secret Service is coordinating with the Cincinnati Police Department and the US Attorney’s Office as charging decisions are reviewed,” the statement read.

Vice President Vance and his family were out of town at the time of the incident and were not in the home.

No injuries were also recorded during the operation.

Authorities have yet to release a motive or further details about the suspect, but the situation has already triggered heightened security and political shockwaves.

This adds to growing concerns about insecurity in the United States, as shootings and attacks on public officials have intensified in recent times, with President Donald Trump nearly shot during a campaign recently.
