Minister ‘cries’ over NPP running mate on live TV as he rebrands from ‘Wuogon Commando’ –

Member of Parliament(MP) from Abetifi in the Eastern Region Bryan ACHEAMPONG has launched an indirect appeal for consideration as New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate on Live TV.

The Minister whose reputation is notoriously linked to the Ayawaso West Wuogon By-Election violence has said Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia should be given room to pick his running mate choice not necessarily from the Ashanti Region.

The MP expressed worry and concern about the “zoning” of the NPP Running Mate to Ashanti Region as people like him risk being ignored.

The NPP MP said all Ghanaians are one people with same ancestry, a statement that has been mocked on social media given the said Minister’s record and past utterances.

“If you trace our ancestries, you would come to the conclusion that we are all Ghanaians. Therefore, one’s origin doesn’t matter. It is a thing of the past. We should all proudly uphold the flag of Ghana and work for the country with good hearts; that is what’s important,” he explained to the Onua TV journalist in Twi.

The NPP MP who is allegedly pushing strings to be considered as running mate had this to say when it was suggested the NPP’s Running Mate will come from the Ashanti region:

“Who told you that the running mate is from the Ashanti Region? The running mate is from Ghana; a running mate is aligned with Dr. Bawumia.” He claimed.

He continued: “That is a conversation we need to have. I have not been approached, but what I am saying is that ultimately, one’s place of origin shouldn’t matter… We’re going to present two Ghanaians. Therefore, people should refrain from insisting that the person must come from a specific region; it is un-Ghanaian,” he concluded.
