NPP Starts Peace Talks –

Stephen Ntim addressing the NPP rally in Ejisu

THE RULING New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to embark on a special project to help deepen peace and unity in the party in all the 275 constituencies in the country.

This laudable project, among other things, would stop aggrieved party members from contesting as independent parliamentary candidates in the December 7 elections.

The peace and unity project, a brainchild of the current NPP National Executives, led by Stephen Ntim, the party’s National Chairman, aims to heal all wounds in the NPP.

Addressing NPP members at Ejisu during a mammoth political rally on Sunday, Stephen Ntim expressed misgivings about the ‘independent candidate syndrome’ in the NPP.

Using the Ejisu by-election where a former NPP MP, Owusu Aduomi, is contesting as an independent candidate as a case study, he said the negative trend should stop now.

According to him, the disturbing issue of independent candidates has the tendency of adversely affecting the fortunes of the party in the coming national elections.

In this regard, he said the NPP would work hard to unite members in all the constituencies to prevent angry party people from contesting as independent candidates.

“We don’t want to experience independent candidates coming from the NPP again,” Stephen Ntim stated emphatically in reference to the Ejisu by-elections.

“So right after the Ejisu by-elections, we will resolve all disputes that arose after the election to elect our parliamentary candidates.

“We shall resolve all the disputes, especially in the constituencies where there are problems before the December polls,” the National Chairman assured.

According to him, the NPP needs total unity in order to win the upcoming national elections, stressing the need to heal every wound in the various constituencies.

The NPP National Chairman also urged the electorate in Ejisu to vote massively for Lawyer Kwabena Boateng.

On her part, the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, also admonished the Ejisu electorate to take their time and vote properly to prevent spoiled ballots.

She said the NPP candidate, Kwabena Boateng, is the suitable person to continue with the good works of the late John Kumah, so they should vote massively for him.
