Gov’t wants to paint schools with NPP colours – Dafeamekpor –

Member of Parliament representing the South Dayi constituency, Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor has accused the Education Minister of planning to paint basic schools in Ghana with NPP colours.

He Minister in Charge of Education, Dr. Yaw Adutwum has announced a move by the government to paint new public schools with blue and white colour.

The move according to him is to enhance the aesthetics of the new public school buildings.

But reacting to this new move, Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor indicated that the choice of color clearly shows that the Minister is looking at painting schools with the NPP colours.

“The Minister of Education says he wants to paint school buildings in NPP colours. That is NPP colours. He just has to add the red to it and that is it. They will now say every roof of every school in Ghana should be red and that is it. They want to name, reclassify, and put everything in their emblem,” he said on TV3.

He could not fathom the thinking that went into the decision considering the fact that government cannot provide furniture, school buildings among other infrastructure to help improve teaching and learning and therefore it is shocking that government will want to invest sums of money in changing colors of public schools.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has clarified the move to change colors and uniforms of public schools.

According to its Spokesperson, Kwasi Kwarteng, the move is to paint new schools with new colours and also ensure that Basic Schools have variety in uniforms.

He says there is no way old schools are going to be repainted as it’s being speculated.
