The Maker’s House Chapel Donates Gh¢150000 To Support Kidney Patients At Korle Bu And 37 Hospitals | Health

The Maker’s House Chapel International has supported the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the 37 Military Hospital in the Greater Accra Region with cash donation of 100000 and 50000 Ghana Cedis respectively to help in healthcare delivery in both facilities.

The donation is also to support renal dialysis patients seeking treatment in both facilities.

Speaking with UTV News was the wife of the Head Pastor of The Maker’s House Chapel International, Lady Yaa Achiaa Boadi Nyamekye who disclosed that the cries of dialysis patients touched the church informing their decision to financially assist them.

She added that this gesture is going to be a monthly thing by the church to these health facilities.

Receiving the donations on behalf of the hospitals were the CEO of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Daniel Asare and the Head of Dialysis Unit of the 37 Military Hospital, Dr. Louis Serebour.

They called on Ghanaians to show compassion in these trying times to the Renal Department of the both health facilities to help them save lives.

Head of Nephrology Department, Dr. Louis Siriboe Agyeman, who received the cheque on behalf of the 37 Military Hospital, disclosed that the facility records not less than 10 kidney failure cases each day.

This figure he noted, could go up as patients are unable to meet the cost in treating the condition while at the same time, the treatment cost keeps going up by the day.

At the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Chief Executive Officer, Dr Opoku Ware Ampomah, urged government to consider instituting a legal framework to guide organ transplantation in the country.

Transplantation he noted, is the ultimate cure for end-stage kidney failure and a long-term survival treatment as dialysis has become an expensive treatment for renal patients.

According to Dr Ampomah, Korle Bu has already started a kidney transplantation program which aims to take dialysis patients off any financial constraints and burdens.

This he said, stems from the commitment of the facility in ensuring that it provides quality services to Ghanaians, especially in area of liver and kidney transplantation.
