NAM 1 in trouble again, dragged to Accra High Court

On September 19, 2023, Nana Appiah Mensah, the former CEO of the now-defunct Menzgold Ghana Limited, made his initial appearance at the Accra High Court.

His appearance follows the filing of new allegations against him on August 30 by the Attorney General, Godfrey Yeboah Dame.

According to myjoyonline.com, accompanied by two individuals and a police officer, the CEO, also known as NAM 1, confronts a total of 36 charges.

Among these allegations are aiding and abetting, fraud by false pretences, operating a deposit-taking business without a licence, illegal deposit-taking, and money laundering.

This represents a reduction from the original 61 offences he faced. Back in 2019, the Attorney General initiated legal proceedings against Nana Appiah Mensah.

He was accused of deceiving a large number of clients through his gold dealership business, resulting in losses totaling millions of cedis.

Since its initiation, the case has been postponed multiple times, culminating in the filing of amended charges on August 30, 2023.

This action follows Mr. Appiah Mensah’s announcement that he intends to release frozen funds to Menzgold customers in exchange for a verification charge of roughly GH650.
