Commencement Of 2022 School Selection Exercise – Ministry Of Education Sends Vital Information

The Ministry of Education has released vital information on the commencement of 2022 school selection exercise.

In a post released on Thursday, 13th October 2022, reads;

“The Ministry of Education has produced a video explaining the school selection guidelines for candidates, parents/guardians and the public. The video will be played on various radio and Television (TV) networks across the country. The video can also be accessed on: www.freeshs.net.

Prospective BECE Candidates, parents/guardians and the public are to take note of the following timelines on the School Selection guidelines:

1. Showing of the school selection video to BECE candidates is set to begin on 24th October 2022 and ends on 29th October 2022.

2. Selection of schools video will be shown to Parents or Guardians or candidates from 31st October to 18th November 2022.

The Ministry reiterated that, it is committed to ensuring a smooth and effective school selection and placement process.

2022 BECE

The West African Examinations Council will administer the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School and Private Candidates, 2022 from 17th to 21st October, 2022. This year, two groups of BECE candidates (School and Private), will for the first time, take the examination at the same period. This is due to the consistently low entries for the BECE for Private Candidates over the years.

A total number of 552,276 candidates from 18,501 schools will take the BECE for School Candidates (SC) at 2,023 centres throughout the country. The entry figure is made up of 276,988 males and 275,288 females. The number of candidates that registered for this year’s BECE (SC) is 3.48% less than the 2021 entry figure of 572,167.
