The Sekondi High Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro.

The presiding judge, Her Ladyship Sedina Agbemeve, issued the warrant over her failure to show up in court in a contempt case against her.

She had been previously ordered to produce evidence that she has renounced her Ivorian citizenship but failed to do so.

The contempt case, which was filed by one Joshua Emuah Kofie from Nuba-Mpataba in the Jomoro Constituency noted that the MP failed to make available her renunciation certificate for inspection as instructed by the court.

The court gave Mrs Dorcas Toffey 10 days to allow for the inspection of the documents but she filed for a stay of execution at the Court of Appeal in Cape Coast in the Central Region which was rejected.

After failing to appear in court on Tuesday December 6, the court issued a bench warrant against the court for showing disrespect to the court.

The case has been adjourned to Thursday, December 9.
