Shortage of tailors, seamstresses to hit Ghana

Some dressmakers and designers have predicted that it would be difficult for Ghana to boast of tailors and dressmakers in the near future.

According to them, most young people have now become lazy and do not pay attention during apprenticeship to become tailors and seamstresses.

The dressmakers and designers, sharing their challenges on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem social discussion segment dubbed, Y’asem Nie, said most of the youth are unemployed because they want fast money.

“The youth now have failed to learn a trade, even now those who work as apprentice rather think of the money we are receiving rather than learning. They care less about the job and that is why it would be very difficult to get tailors and dressmakers to sew for us in the next 10 years,” one lamented.
