Kete Krachi Timber Recovery (KKTR) Limited has presented fishing equipment to the Kwahu South District Assembly for onward distribution to fishers in the district as part of tomorrow’s Farmers Day celebration.

The
items made up of 144 fishing nets and 300 corks were received by the Kwahu
South District Chief Executive (DCE), Emmanuel Atta Ofori, and the District
Coordinating Director, Joseph Frimpong Naayo, at a brief ceremony at Mpraeso.

KKTR
is a company with state concession for harvesting tree stumps from the Volta
Lake.

The
Operations Manager of KKTR, Ali Marnah, said management of the company was determined
to support the assembly in its effort to enhance the work and welfare of
fishermen in the district.

He
said both the Chief Executive and Chairman of KKTR, Messrs Elkin Pianim and
Francis Mawuena Kalitsi respectively, were grateful to the assembly and the
District Security Council for bringing about a harmonious relationship between
the fishermen and KKTR which has ensured the peaceful operations of the company
and the fishers on the Volta Lake in the community.

Receiving
the donation, the DCE said the fishing gadgets had come in good time as the assembly
was preparing to celebrate the 35th National Farmers Day on Friday,
December 6, 2019.

He
expressed the appreciation of the assembly to the management of KKTR for what
he described as their ‘kind and positive gesture’ in helping to promote fishing
and the life of fishers who plied their trade on the Volta Lake.

The
KKTR Limited, a wholly owned Ghanaian company, was inaugurated in November 2019
by His Excellency President Akufo-Addo as part of the One-District One-Factory
initiative at Sedorm-Yiti in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.
