A group of five men poured fuel on a woman, lit her on fire and left her to burn early Thursday on a desolate road in the Indian district of Unnao, police say.

She was travelling to a court hearing in her rape case when she was attacked.

In March, the 23-year-old filed a report with local authorities, accusing two men from her village of sexually assaulting her and filming the act; both individuals were arrested but later released on bail, according to the Indian Express.

Senior police officer SK Bhagat said that in the complaint the woman stated “one of the two rape-accused was in relationship with her in 2018, but he physically exploited her, lured her with a marriage proposal. Later, he refused to get married and raped her with another friend,” reported NDTV, a local network.

Police arrested five men on Thursday, including the two men who allegedly raped and exploited her last year.
