Theophilus Sedodu, the face of the Hawks in internet pictures, who denied vehemently being a member of the pro-National Democratic Congress (NDC) vigilante group, has been spotted among former President John Mahama’s bodyguards.

He was one of 16 persons arrested during the violence at La-Bawaleshi during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

When he took his turn at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Commission of Inquiry, Sedodu denied being a member of the group.

“They associated me with the Hawks because of my stature, so anytime there are (stories about) the Hawks, my name and my face will be there… I don’t know if it’s a group or not,” he told the commission.

The heavily built man was recently spotted among former President Mahama’s bodyguards.

His unique physique gave him out when a group of men (bodyguards) prevented Rev Owusu Bempah from shaking hands with Mahama.

The two (former President Mahama and Rev Owusu Bempah) had been invited by the Holy Ghost Revival Centre of the Assemblies of God Church, South Odorkor, to grace their 30th Anniversary celebrations.

The incident happened when Rev Bempah walked over to Mahama intending to shake his hands after he has sought permission to leave.

This attempt resulted in a near clash when the former President’s bodyguard moved in to block the handshake. It took about five minutes to restore calm.

Mahama was at the church with the Constituency Executives of Ablekuma North and the Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

Former President Mahama and Rev Bempah have a history. One that is based on prophecies and predictions that spell doom for Mahama.

A known critic of the former President Mahama, Rev Bempah is also an avid supporter of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party.

On two occasions, he predicted that President Akufo-Addo will win elections to become President. The first was in 2012 which did not happen. The second was in 2016, which the President won.

During his December 31, 2018 watch night, Rev predicted that former President Mahama and some prominent Ghanaians including former President Kufuor and his wife will shed the mortal coil.

He has also stated publicly that Mahama, who is the NDC Flagbearear’s, political career is over and he will never be President again.

Those comments have always ticked the nerves of members and supporters of the NDC who accuse the pastor of being a New Patriotic Party supporter.
