Henry Quartey Fulfils Roads Facelift Promise

Roads in the Ayawaso Central constituency are no longer what
they used to be. They are now shining asphalted roads after MP for the
constituency, Henry Quartey, fulfilled his promise of ensuring that the bad
state of the road network in the electoral area was reversed.

The bureaucracy, which delayed the project takeoff, prompted
some residents to question whether the large potholes were really going to be a
thing of the past.

Now the bad roads have not only been rehabilitated, they are
asphalted and presenting residents with a fresh challenge of speeding motorists
and cyclists enjoying the pothole-free network. Some residents have placed
pieces of bricks on the new roads to compel the reckless drivers and
motorcyclists to reduce their speed. DAILY GUIDE has however been
informed that speed ramps would be constructed on the roads to obviate
accidents.

No bad road in the constituency is going to be left undone
the MP who doubles as deputy Interior Minister has told DAILY GUIDE.

The MP’s frequent visits to the rehabilitation sites have
been a source of encouragement to the contractor.

The MP appears to have set a standard for his colleagues in
other constituencies to emulate.

When eventually all Accra roads are done, as Ayawaso
Central’s have been, vehicles would last longer with owners reducing their
visits to spare parts sellers.

The Ayawaso Central Constituency hosts Alajo, a suburb
notorious for its floods. The bad roads are the outcome of many destructive
raining seasons, it has been observed.

Abdul Rasheed Sambo an aide to the MP has been busy since the
road rehabilitation began because as he put it “the MP is very serious about
the project and when he is unable to show up, he ensures that I am on site to
give him the necessary feedback. Things are progressing well and very soon
there would no longer be any bad road in the constituency.”

A vehicle provided by the MP goes round to ask owners of
broken down vehicles that are permanently parked on the roads to be removed so
the rehabilitation would not be stalled.

“I have asked the assemblyman for places where the broken down vehicles are causing a hindrance to have them towed to the Kotobabi Police Station at a cost to the owners” the MP told DAILY GUIDE.
