Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Communications Minister
Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, is currently speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express with Evans Mensah.
She is speaking on the topic, ‘Communication Service Tax Telcos Vrs Government’.
In recent developments, the implementation of the newly adjusted Communications Service Tax (CST) has caused the telecommunication companies to carry out a nine percent CST charge on consumers upfront on every recharge they make.
This move led to government directing the telcos to halt the immediate deduction of the CST and treat the tax as they do to VAT, NHIL and GET Fund levies.
As a result, this has left the telcos in a head-on collision with the Communications Ministry.
