3 Nabbed Over Abokobi Police Missing Rifle

The suspects

Three persons are
in the custody of the Adenta Divisional Police Command for allegedly stealing a
police service rifle at the Akporman Manna Police Station.

The suspects have
been identified as Frank Dogbe, a 22-year-old driver; Bernard Omagah Barrack, a
21-year-old Nigerian, and Bukari Adamu, 23.

Two other
suspects on the run have been named as Adzayaw Selassi and Patrick Tetteh (aka soldier).

The missing rifle ‒ which led to the
interdiction of Superintendent Edward Tetteh, the Abokobi/Ayimensah District Police
Commander, and Chief Inspector Christopher Bekor, the Akporman Manna Station
Officer‒ has been
recovered and in the custody of the police.

Briefing the
media, the Adenta Divisional Police Commander, ACP/ Cephas Coffie, said the
weapon which was loaded with 20 rounds of ammunition was found in a bush at Amaria,
near Teiman, based on intelligence.

He said on August
16, 2019, the police were alerted about a weapon being sold for GH¢5,000.

“Our intelligence
revealed that suspect Patrick Tetteh showed interest in buying the gun and paid
an amount of GH¢ 3000 as down
payment to the arrested suspects,” he revealed.

ACP/Mr. Coffie disclosed
that on August 17, 2019, police intelligence led to the recovery of the gun
concealed in a polythene bag hidden in a bush at a location called Amaria.

“Suspect Dogbe
was first arrested in August 19, 2019 in front of Kuoftam Police Station,
following which the numbers were also picked up,” he added.

ACP/Mr. Coffie said
police were still interrogating suspects to determine how the rifle was stolen
from the Manna Police Station  

On August 9, 2019, the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh, interdicted Superintendent Edward Tetteh and Christopher Bekor over the disappearance of the  police rifle. The case was referred to the Police Professional & Standard Bureau (PPSB) for investigations.
