NDC ‘Hired’ Mercenaries On Trial

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo – NDC NMational Chairman

Some
top officials of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have
allegedly ‘hired’ foreigners to infiltrate government officials to syphon
information for blackmail purposes.

The
party is alleged to have contracted three foreigners – two Ukrainian and a
Greek – to intercept government communications through various means, including
email and social media platforms such as WhatsApp.

The
three – Viktoriia Kryvtska, Vasileios Stoumpos and Vasileios Marios Blanas –
are alleged to have illegally gained access to telephone, email and WhatsApp
conversations of 21 ‘high-profile’ officials of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)
government.

Sources
have told DAILY GUIDE that the opposition NDC intends to use the ‘secret’
communications syphoned by the foreigners against the NPP in the 2020 election.

Their
activities were detected by National Security operatives who intercepted some
communications between the three foreigners and some high-profile members of
the NDC.

Court Appearance

Viktoriia
Kryvtska, Vasileios Stoumpos and Vasileios Marios Blanas have been dragged
before an Accra Circuit Court for their involvement in what could be described
as ‘mercenary’ work.

The
three are facing two counts of conspiracy to commit crime and unauthorised
access to electronic material.  The case
is still under investigations and the plea of the accused persons could not be
taken.

Bail

Lawyer
for the three, Sampson Ayenini, prayed the court to grant the suspects bail pending
the conclusion of investigations and possible trial.

The
court presided over by Ruby Quayson granted them bail of GH¢50,000 each with
two sureties – both of whom must be Ghanaians who earn not less than GH¢1,500.

The
suspects were further ordered to report to the Bureau of National
Investigations (BNI) every Tuesday.

Again,
the suspects are to deposit their passports to the court registrar and must
seek the permission of the court before they can travel.

The court further ordered that the status of the suspects be made known to the Ghana Immigration Service and the police so that they do not leave the country.
