Betway backs Ashantigold to beat Akonongui FC

Bookmaking giants and major sponsors of Ashantigold, Betway, have sent well wishes to the club, backing the Miners to beat Equato Guinean side Akonangui FC, in the second leg of the their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round qualifier.

Ashgold host the return leg at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Saturday, and are odds on favorites to progress to the next stage following an impressive 1-1 draw in the first leg two weeks ago.

Ricardo Da Rocha’s men will be hoping to go a step further than their last outing in Africa, a first round exit in the CAF Champions League in 2016.

Country Director of Betway, Rex Danquah, said they have strong believes in Ashgold’s abilities to go past Akonangui.

“The result from the first leg has set up a wonderful return leg and we have no doubt Ashantigold will progress,” he said.

“In Africa these days, you cannot underrate any team and we know the job is far from over despite a favorable first leg result, but Ashgold have our support and we are confident come saturday, they will progress,” Rex Danquah concluded.

The game will kick off at 3pm on Sunday. If Ashantigold progress, they will face RS Berkane of Morocco in the next round.
